Dear Dems… Thank You

It’s around 1900 hours, or 7:00 pm.  About the time that everyone sits down to eat dinner after a long day, and many people will have the news on while eating and get caught up on the day’s events.  Well, there is something that I wanted to break to any fellow conservative Republicans on this website:

Nancy Pelosi won Minority Leader today.

Yes, the woman that ruined the democratic control of the House, and took Congressional approval to levels where the members need a snorkel to breath (that’s 17% approval folks) has been placed back in charge of the Democrats in the House.  Ya can’t fix stupid!

Dear Democrats,

THANK YOU.

Sincerely,

Podesta hearts dictators, Israel, and the Zombie Congress

Apparently John Podesta is unfamiliar with the American system of government. I just don’t get what these guys are thinking when they make these kind of statements.

“One of the best ways for the Obama administration to achieve results of that nature, in the short-term, is through substantial executive authority to make and implement policy. As noted in the Constitution and the laws of the United States give the president the ability and responsibility to act as the chief executive using the authorities granted to all presidents such as executive orders, rule-makings, agency management, and public-private partnerships.”

I mean there’s a system. Elementary school students are introduced to a cartoon bill and understand that there is a process we have to take. I’m not sure the Podesta realizes that those are the kind of things leaders in power use to become… what’s the word… dictators.

David Milstein has a great article on the Daily Caller today. He discusses the “peace process” with Israel and Palestine. I think he has a real insight on the fact that there really isn’t anything to talk about.

Sarah Field (@SEField)over at Liberty Central, Inc, has nick named the current Congress the “Zombie Congress”. Best thing I’ve read all day.

This has to be the craziest video I have seen in awhile. I love conspiracy theory, I just don’t buy most of it, but it’s funny so I’ll share it:

p.s. Wow, this article had tons of errors. I think most are fixed now. That’s what I get for using a speech to text program and then not editing.

Take a Lesson from My ‘Boys…

I think it is safe to say that I have a particular affinity for tragic figures: Batman, Siegfried, Rorschach when I suffered through the movie The Watchmen, Fred Thompson in 2008, and my beloved Texas teams (NOT the University of Texas) including the Dallas Cowboys.  The Dallas Cowboys are finally taking the steps necessary to correct a season that transcends the term “tragic.”

The Cowboys fired Wade Phillips.

Praise the football Gods (which, as everyone knows, is a Holy Trinity consisting of Emmitt Smith, Daryl Johnston, and Troy Aikman) or human reason.  However, I learned very quickly that there can be a negative flip-side to every good action: the interim head coach for the Dallas Cowboys is now Jason Garrett, who is undoubtedly an even bigger reason for the Cowboys’ failures.

I got what I wanted… and now that old adage be careful what you wish for is ringing in my head.

So for those of you within the conservative movement that argue in favor of impeaching President Obama, keep this in mind: behind every Wade Phillips is a Jason Garrett, and behind President Obama is Vice President Biden…

Sorry Y’all

OK, I want to admit right off the bat that we here at theLobbyist have been fairly derelict in our duties.  This has been an exciting election season, and many of us are caught up in the fervor by campaigning for some of our local guys, or perhaps ypu have noticed that out ConservativeCongress site has blown up recently as people become more and more aware that CC exists to help people identify the conservative Congressional candidates in their district.

So I want to say, I’m sorry.

Here we are on the crest of a wave that is scheduled to level the political landscape in two days and those of us writing at theLobbyist have let you down.  Nevertheless, we are going to get up off our rear-ends (and enjoy it when we kick the Democratic establishment onto its rear-end) and get things up here for our readers.  Thanks!

Gibbs Blames GOP For No Tax Cuts, Press Doesn’t Bite

You can find the video here, as we can’t embed RCP videos.  The discussion between, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs and the press is pretty comical.  It’s very apparent the media isn’t going to be swayed by Gibbs fairly ridiculous spin on why there is no tax cut bill in play and why blaming the Reps just won’t cut it.

Podcast on the “future of the Internet”

This week over at Digital Society we had a really good podcast on an article talking about the “future of the Internet”.  Which was sorta silly in and of itself, but had a couple of good points and some general insight into what is going on between Net Neutrality groups, Obama, and the FCC.

I felt like there was some really good discussion between Digital Society Policy Director George Ou and our Visiting Fellows James DeLong and Steve Effros.  So if you are interested in the Net Neutrality policy discussion or are interested in learning some stuff from some guys that have a knack for clear communication then check it out.

A Poem For That September Day

They reached for heaven, those towers, tall,

And graced her ever-blue skies that morn.

And though under man’s ire they were brought to fall,

crumbling to ash; natures truest form.

They reached for heaven, those birds of man,

For no other purpose than what we prescribe.

Down below, shadows grace the land,

As they slip across our own sky.

As Elijah’s chariot, they took to heaven,

Four, themselves full, against their will.

And shepherded many more, that nine eleven,

Whether by building, or man’s metallic quill.

No words born by man’s tongue dare,

Do what is justly owed to that day.

Though many wish to try, and fare,

Well, in telling of their own soul’s decay.

For many nothing more need be said,

Than the feeling shown, by our cheek’s tear.

For those of us, who claim no dead,

Embrace the less fortunate, and admonish their fear.

Interview With Melody Scalley, Host of “Politics on the Edge,” 103.3 WESR FM, Over Her Support for Scott Rigell for Congress

Dustin Siggins: You’re a talk show host- your reputation is important. Why pick this guy?

Melody Scalley: I ran for the House of Delegates last year in the 100th District of Virginia, and I got to know all six of the candidates who were running for the Republican nomination for Congress in 2010. Scott Rigell is a business leader (he was just inducted in the Hampton Roades Hall of Fame for his business leadership), he’s a graduate of Regent University, he and his wife home-schooled all four of their kids and he served in the Marines (as does his son- and his father is an Iwo Jima veteran).

DS: What are the top two issues he addresses?

MS: He’s actually created jobs- his business is Freedom Automotives, and he’s hired more people than the Blue Dog/Yellow Dog/Lap Dog incumbent, Glenn Nye (VA-O2). Jobs and the killing by government of the free market and jobs, as well as the debt that is putting us, our children and grand-children in debt.

DS: Where does he stand on Iraq and Afghanistan?

MS: He believes we need a strong national defense, and if we are going to send our boys into harm’s way, we should declare war. [DS: Ms. Scalley did not wish to convey Mr. Rigell's convictions on Iraq and Afghanistan, since she does not speak for the campaign.]

DS: What does he think of Fed’s actions thus far in the recession?

MS: He has said we should audit the Fed, and signed the Tea Party Agreement for auditing the Fed.
