Juan Williams gets Posterized by William Kristol on FNS
We are an eclectic bunch here at thelobbyist, which is what makes our site so special. We can draw on each others’ strengths, correct one another’s weaknesses, and help teach our peers new things. I am not a technological prodigy, but I learned about (and subsequently posted about) the proper utilization of the tech-term “pwnage” or “pwned” or what have you. I am, however, into sports a bit more than some of my peers at this site (or maybe just Dustin). What William Kristol did to Juan Williams on Fox News Sunday this morning could have been turned into another “pwn” article, but I chose to use “posterize.”
“Posterizing” is a word in the basketball lexicon, and it is when someone elevates himself (let’s face it, women rarely do a lot of dunking) to an almost nose bleed level of the stratosphere to make a slam dunk while some poor sap stands under him with his arms up trying to block the dunker’s efforts to not only grab 2 points for his team, but to also get some momentum going for his team. That added energy, the sidelines getting on their feet, the crowd cheering, a positive up-tick in the soul of that team that cannot be quantitatively defined or measured (this KILLS our economist, statistician, left-brained friends).
This is what Bill Kristol did to Juan Williams on Fox News Sunday. Plain and simple (I will try and find a clip when it comes out). They were discussing the new financial reforms the Obama Administration is pushing, and I am going to paraphrase the exchange as best as I can:
Juan: …if you are at work, your boss has the right to look at the e-mails you send from your work e-mail…
Bill: The US Senate IS NOT OUR BOSS, they are not the boss of the US and they are not the boss of Goldman-Sachs. Can you imagine, everyone having to answer to Carl Levin as their boss?
Following that, Juan tried to deflect in his typical way: stammering and becoming louder and more incensed! Nevertheless, Bill Kristol was right, there “is something very telling” by Juan’s statement, and the thoughts and goals of the new Democratic Party.
